The Beauty Queen and the Catfish

The Beauty Queen and the Catfish is a three-part true-crime documentary series set in Scotland, exploring a complex and emotionally charged case of online deception and the long shadow it casts over real lives. Told through the voices of the women at its centre, the series traces how belief, hope and manipulation unfold over time, challenging assumptions about who falls for these scams and why.

As Series Director, I also shot the series and saw it through the edit. I worked closely with contributors to build an intimate, character-led narrative. Visually and editorially, the series focuses on the emotional journey of those involved, using careful storytelling and crafted structure to reflect the gradual uncovering of the truth as it was experienced by the women themselves.
