Broadly: This is a Political Occupation

Shorts

An inside look at the political occupation of one of the largest women's prisons in Western Europe. Holloway prison in London is a historic eight-acre site that has housed everyone from the suffragettes to notorious serial killers. It has been empty since the closure of the prison in 2016 but on Saturday, May 27th, direct feminist action group Sisters Uncut snuck in through a window and declared a political occupation.

With rumours the land would be sold off for private real estate, Sisters Uncut want to reclaim the space for the community of Holloway and show that it can be used for the public good. They demand the UK government turn the visitors centre into a women's building for ex-inmates and domestic violence survivors.
